The week to 5 October was a busy one. OpenAI used its DevDay event on 29 September to launch a new model, two pricier Pro plans and "dots", its always-on AI agents, which UK Pro subscribers can't get yet. Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5, and Google started replacing Gems with Skills and announced a shake-up of who gets which Gemini model.

This issue covers every tool-level change from 28 September to 5 October 2026 that matters to everyday users: what changed, who gets it, whether it works in the UK, and whether you should care. There are ten items, with a "coming up" box for what changes next.
